Dance Bio
Naomi Uyama discovered lindy hop in her hometown of Washington DC during the late nineties. Over the past decade she has taught workshops all around the world and performed for dance and music legends alike. She has won the champion title at such prestigious competitions as the Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown, the American Lindy Hop Championships, and the U.S. Open Swing Dance Championships. When she's not traveling in the name of triple steps Naomi lives in New York City and spends most of her life not being Nina Gilkenson, despite the large amounts of people that think she is.
DJ Bio
Naomi Uyama discovered jazz through her love of swing dancing. Years later, her interest lead her to a prestigious 'History of Jazz' internship at the Smithsonian Institution's American History museum in Washington DC. She has DJ-ed around the world, and has brought her skills as competition DJ to such events as the Boston Tea Party and Lone Star Championships. She is also proud to have been a founding member of "The Jam Cellar"- Washington's best dance venue for classic jazz. When she's not traveling in the name of lindy hop Naomi now lives in New York City where she continues to hunt down the perfect tune.
